I usually use my electric Fresh Choice rolling machine but when the power went out for a week, I had to do something. Tops has always been a good name in tobacco products so I picked this machine up.
Must say, I rather like it. While it's not 'heavy duty', it does the job fine. What I mean by heavy duty is the spring system. They are light weight and will break under much stress. As long as you don't over-pack, you won't have to worry. You'll know when you over-pack the chamber.
Over all, it's a nice machine. Once you get the hang of how much tobacco to use, and how to load it, you'll make consistent cigarettes every time.
While others say don't use the powder from the tobacco, I save my powder to USE in this machine. I mix in a little cut with it and get great smokes every time. Never had an issue with my machine either. As with anything, you take care of it and it will last.
My only complaints is the fragile springs and the 'nonslip' rubber bottom. It didn't take long of removing and replacing when cleaning for it to cause problems of staying on.
Very easy to switch between 100's and Kings.
A must have for backup if you have an electric machine. (Posted on 8/16/2014)

Just got this machine today and made four packs with only one tube ruined, due to a stem in the tobacco. First time ever RYO.
Ease of use is good, short learning curve. I did find a couple videos demonstrating use. We will have to see how durable the machine is. (Posted on 8/15/2014)

Had em all. Electric augers make cherries that fall off . Both premier types have a short life span. The Fresh Choice Electric is the best but it is also $500, This machine will serve you well but never ever force the lever. Clean and repack. Lubricate occasionally with LIGHT oil. Don't try to pack the powder from the end of your bag. You can get parts cheap from them. Do this and the machine should last you several years. (Posted on 5/10/2014)

but after having owned 2 recently, the first one never got tobacco any closer than maybe 1/4 - 1/2 inch from filter, after 4 or 5 that only got to about 1/2 - 1/3 inside the tube. Second one I bought broke after a week. Hat to say it but they seem to have become absolute pieces of crap. (Posted on 5/5/2014)

I like the machine the machine just fine, after about 6 months the inside started coming loose where the fork slides over the pin. Had to keep pushing it back together after 3 to 4 rolls and I had to turn it over to do that. After a while the handle stuck and when I tried to get it loose the plastic inside broke. I am trying to get the warranty on it now, I will let ya know how that turns out.... (Posted on 5/1/2014)

I have owned a topomatic for a couple of years now and I have rolled over 35000 cigarettes. the only things are the rubber nipple keeps coming off and is lost at this time, and the one spring in the bottom has broke for the second time. both items you can get at ace hardware. the spring is $1.49 and a 5 pack of the nipples are $1.89. Carton and a half to two a week (yeah, I know). I drop a handful of tobacco on top of the slot, stuff, tube, crank and so forth until I have a pack. Cleaning consists of tip up the machine and spill what's left onto my tray, bang it a couple of times, work the crank twice and pop the rubber base off at a corner to spill out the fine stuff inside and then empty the tray back into my tobacco container. If that's a thorough cleaning, then I clean it thoroughly. I've been using it for three years plus without a hiccup. It's the most used appliance in my home and the most reliable. What more can I say? (Posted on 2/5/2014)

C'mon folks, with every machine there is wear and tear. This machine has come through for me for the past two years and now needing some part changes. Have been rolling approximately 2 1/2 cartons a week. The plastic parts seem to wear down after a couple of years. I will order new parts from the catalogue included with the machine and see how it goes. I'll report the experience through this review. Look at it this way. This machine paid for itself in one month.

Had purchased a lesser cost machine that only lasted about 6 weeks. (also reviewed on this site) Purchased the TOM in replacement. The difference was like night and day. The other machine was finicky with tobacco and jammed often. The TOM seems to consume anything I put in it and always spits out a well made smoke (even if some are a little tight). Wish I had spent the extra $$ in the first place.

Thanks for all the great reviews here....Happy again! (Posted on 11/19/2013)
Reliable Machine Review by D

I am a former employee of a former R.Y.O. shop (Thanks Food and Drug admin...::sigh::). I must say, the Top injector is one of the best for its price. I have replace the injecting arm only once and a screw for the handle and have made well over 5000 smokes with it. Their are better machines out there, most being twenty or thirty dollars higher, but as for the performance of this machine, I would say that on average (when packed correctly) it will make AT LEAST 184 out of 200, I have found most success with Rizla tubes, blue being easiest. Hands down, good machine, its the one our store used for rolling sample smokes for customers. Remember to (safely) lubricate and clean it every so often so it doesn't have stiff operation, and it will continue to perform. (Posted on 10/2/2013)
Update of prior purchase - Please Read!Review by Sofia

Just purchased this about a month ago. Took a little bit of time to get the hang of it. Here's my advise: BE PATIENT! This is a great machine, and well worth the investment.

If you faithfully do the following; you will be happy with your purchase:

1. Always fill the corners first. Don't overstuff - and pull the crank with a quick and even motion.

2. Clean the machine (in it's entirety) after filling approximately 5/6 packs (100/120 ciggs). Easily done - take the bottom rubber off, shake off in sink. Use a probe to clean injector (I used a large toothpick). Wipe down outside with a damp rag (I don't recommend soap).

3. NEVER (ever) use tobacco "crumbs". This is what jams up the machine. (Learned from my mistake!)

I've spoken to many friends who purchased the electric machines from the Big "A" website; and had nightmare stories to tell.

Not me; I'm perfectly happy with my Top O Matic machine from SMOKERSOUTLETONLINE.COM.

It took about 2 weeks for me to perfect the technique; and I finally got it down. Never will I purchase another pack of smokes from a retail store! (Posted on 9/28/2013)

After 20 years of marriage; I decided that I had to STOP yelling at hubbie for spending too much on ciggs. Purchased this and WOW! I regained my voice!

This machine is easy to use, and certainly worth the investment. New to RYO - the other's reviews were very helpful - and made it easy to decide that this machine was "the one". I would recommend to all.

P.S...... SMOKERSOUTLETONLINE.COM - is incredible. Not only did they ship SO fast; but the packing job they did was better than the best. It's evident that they take pride in their products, and their method of handling. KUDOS to you all at SMOKERSOUTLINEONLINE.COM!

Will be back again & again. Thank You!!!

I have not been to this website in a long time was just surfing and thought I would come back take a look around I like the review section.
This Machine is well worth the price. My only advice to fellow smokers is to buy this machine at your local smoke shop not from Smokers Outlet because if it is faulty SOutlet will not help you. I did not know they had this policy when I ordered mine from them and it arrived with a crooked cutter. At any rate it is a good machine and I did get a replacement from topomatic but it took some time so save yourself a headache and buy local. What is really sad is S Outlet lost me as a regular customer over a measley $50 machine. (Posted on 9/2/2013)

We have been using the same machine for more than two years, rolling at least one carton a week. It takes me just a little over an hour while watching TV.
Son in law and grandson have both been using their machines about the same amount of time without a problem.
With the money saved over OTC cigs, if the thing breaks I'll just replace it. (Posted on 5/2/2013)

There is a definite learning curve to get through with this machine, but once you do it will pay off. Finding the right kind of tobacco and tubes took me a while, and then getting accustomed to how to pack the hopper. This machine has seen almost daily use for nearly two years now (I make cigs for my wife, my brother and me) and it's still going strong. Inside, it looks more fragile than it is. Every time I use it I shake the tobacco dust out of it, and after every bag or so of tobacco it gets a good air-blowing and oiling. I wish it was faster, but I'll trade speed for robustness any time. I started RYO about 10 months ago this was the roller that was recommended to me it took me about a month to get the right touch for this machine, it takes some maintenance, about after every 2 or so cartons i lube up all the inside with a food grade lubricant, if you overfill it it does tend to jam but that doesn't happen once you get the right touch all in all great product and would recommend this to anyone (Posted on 7/31/2012)

Love my TOM. If I had to go out and get another machine it would be this one.
Proper maintenance is easy as using a Q-tip every week or so to the cutter and under side.

I was originally using a slider-injector when I first started the ryo experience. It make me very frustrated and wasted a lot of tubes. This machine is amazing! I haven't gotten frustred once with it and it fills even the most finicky of tubes! A definite must buy and with the cost of pre-rolled cigarettes it pays for itself in no time! My first sitting I rolled the equevilant of 7 packs with only 5 mishaps in a little over an hour. Not bad for a beginner :). (Posted on 7/14/2012)

I have been chugging away on my topomatic for about a year. I have been able to get pretty consistent results when it comes to under/over filling. My only problem stems from the fact that the kings setting leaves about 2-3 mm of the lighting end unfilled, and the 100 setting overfills the lighting end too much. I don't mind the extra space so much as i like to twist the end. I like mine so much I bought one for my brother. After about a month, his future wife broke it by packing tobacco way too tight and trying to roll a cigarette. She actually bend the metal innards beyond repair. My brother was still satisfied at this point that he went out and bought a new topomatic. (Posted on 7/10/2012)

Some things in life are worth the extra cost. When I started smoking again and went back to MYO, I went right back to this machine. I had given a neighbor friend my old one. Both have served me well, even when I was still in need of training wheels (over filling the tubes, having to use a cheater bar to close the lever, that sort of thing). The trick is to develop a touch to determining the right quantity. I usually dump a pile of tobacco in the area north of the opening. Then I scoop just the right amount in, tucking it into the corners first. If you get any significant resistance to closing and injecting the tobacco into the tube, you have used too much. Be willing to sacrifice as many as 40 tubes to get just the right amount in when you are just starting out. it should not feel like your cigarette is make out of oak (or even balsa wood). Once you get the feel for it, you'll be delighted in how little it actually takes to make a gook smoke, and you'll love the speed and convenience of a tabletop machine. The rubber bottom helps a lot with preventing sliding, and it comes right off , when you want to clean out the inside. Remember to check the little rubber cap that holds the tube in while stuffing, it will come partway off once in a while. no big deal, just push it down and keep on trucking. (Posted on 7/9/2012)

The best of the spoon-fed injectorsReview by dugndeep
I bought the premier hand-held injector a few years ago and used it for about 3 months and then got tired of the whole RYO scene and the bad roll job on the cigarettes and went back to buying the already rolled cigarettes.About a month ago ,I thought I would try it again but this time invest in a better injector. So I went out and bought this Top-O-Matic injector. There is no comparison between this table-top injector and the hand-held one, totally night and day difference.I have yet to roll a bad cigarette with this machine.I would totally recommend this machine over all others,I got frustrated with the hand-held and give up because I didn't like the end product with the hand-held model but with this table-top model I think the higher price is justifiable, take my word for it. Great machine, buy this, for experts or newbiesReview by Pp
Never had a problem with mine and I've been using it almost 3 years now, and I am not gentle with it. Bought two others for friends, and theirs are still going strong, also. You'd be amazed at how fast I can roll 50 perfect smokes with this baby, but that takes practice.

Just keep it clean. The BEST MACHINE for the price! Easy to roll kings or 100s. (Posted on 5/8/2012)
